Description
Saving Macquarie Island
Saving Macquarie Island recounts some of the many personal experiences of scientists, expeditioners, hunters and public servants who took part in a remarkable program to eradicate introduced vermin to the world’s southernmost plant environment. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is home to many penguins, seals, sea lions, sea birds and rare and tiny invertebrates.
Compiled by Maura Chamberlain, this book showcases both the remarkable story behind the eradication program and her plant illustrations. Maura was the recipient of the Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship program and is based in Hobart, Tasmania.
