Welcome to Geographica!
Based in Hobart, we are an independent travel and adventure bookshop. Our collection of wonderful travel-related merchandise includes maps, globes, flags, nautical titles and Tasmaniana. We also sell Garmin handheld GPS units, 4WD adventure guidebooks and much more.
We pride ourselves on having the largest travel guide selection in Hobart, plus a wide range of other non-fiction titles to inspire and delight anyone with an interest in the world around them.
We are an authorised Australian Hydrographic Chart retailer and have been the go-to source for charts for both local and visiting yachties, fisherfolk and mariners for the last 20 years.
We are an Australian Veteran owned business and wholly Tasmanian-owned and operated.

History
The shop began in 1998 as a map stall in the iconic Salamanca Market on Hobart’s waterfront. Later moving to Elizabeth Street in the CBD, the business became known to locals as ‘the Map Shop’ and has operated continuously since then.
The shop changed hands towards the end of 2016 when the original owners embarked on their well-deserved retirement! It was taken on by two locals who moved back from Sydney to see the shop into the future.
