First discovered in 1820, Antarctica is the world’s fifth-largest continent – about double the size of Australia – covering an area of 14 million sq.km, 98 per cent of which is permanently covered by ice. It is the coldest, windiest and driest place on earth. This comprehensive map has just been updated by Australian Geographic’s cartographer Will Pringle and is supplied in a cardboard sleeve.
