Silva Expedition Compass MS

The Silva Expedition Compass MS is a traditional base plate compass with more advanced features than the Silva base models. It comes in a Dryflex™ housing for easy handling, has silicon rubber feet for precise map work, and a detachable safety-release lanyard. It also boasts luminous markings for night navigation, a magnifying lens, and a clinometer to measure slope angle. The compass includes map-measuring scales in both millimeters and inches, as well as scales for 1:25,000, 1:50,000, and GPS. It even has built-in adjusters for magnetic declination, including local adjustments. The Expedition can also handle 1:40,000 map measurements.

The slope card is a valuable tool for assessing the difficulty of your journey and for accounting for any extra distance due to slopes. The scale lanyard features two scales: 1:25k and 1:50k, making it easy to measure your hike’s distance.  It’s soft and flexible, allowing you to place it directly on your route on the map. The latest model sports updated graphics, including a clearer arrow, and a more modern font.
